Candy Cake!!!

This is one of my favorite cakes!!!  I saw the idea in the Family Circle magazine.  I altered it a little by adding the hugs in the center.  It was fun to make, difficult to cut, but yummy to eat!!!

Birthday Cake and Announcement!!!

My niece, Emily's, birthday is the day after mine.  We celebrated them at my parent's house and I asked to make the cake.  Since she and I are princesses I wanted to make a castle cake.  I thought this one up in my head and it somewhat worked like I wanted.

I don't remember all the details of making this cake, but I think I just made a 9x13 cake and then cut it into a square.  I used the pieces I cut off to make the towers.  Sugar cones were the tops of the towers, graham cracker door, Starburst "stones" and the little decorating pebbles for the accents.  It tried to swoosh the frosting to make it look textured.

I then added a Princess Brittney and Princess Emily to the top of the cake!!!
I also used this cake to announce that I was pregnant with my last baby, Oakley.  I sat a Barbie baby by the feet of my Princess doll.  My niece, Sydney asked why there was a baby on the cake and I just shrugged.  She put it together and then all my nieces started screaming.  It was a great way to announce it!!!

Pumpkin Time!!!

I saw this cake on the front of the Family Circle magazine and had to try it.  I made it for a party and everyone loved it!!!  It was more fun to look at than to eat, but it still tasted good!!!
It took about two hours to put all of the M&Ms on, but it was worth it!!!  I used two, quart bowls to bake the cake and then stacked them on eachother and iced it with orange icing.  Then I spent the rest of the time putting on the M&Ms.  The stem is a snickers!!

Rylee's Cake!!!

Last year my cute niece, Rylee, asked me to make her a pig cake.
I started thinking and this is what I came up with!!!

I used two 9 inch cakes stacked for the body.  I used a 1/2 quart glass bowl to bake the cake for his head!  His nose, feet and ears are cupcakes.  The eyes and ears are milk duds and the tail is a red vine.  After I finished it, I got thinking he looked too clean so I let him walk through mud (melted chocolate chips.)

Then I decided to let him roll and play in it and this is how my pig cake ended up!!!

My First Attempts!!!

Here was my first attempts at fancy cupcakes.  Summer had a Hello Kitty birthday in 2008 so I tried to make Hello Kitty Cupcakes.  She was happy with them so I guess I won that one!!!

Jarrett wanted horse cupcakes for his birthday in 2009 so I looked in "Hello Cupcake" by Karen Tack and Alan Richardson and found this....

I changed their things to make it work for a palomino horse.  I used wafers, circus peanuts and mini chocolate chips on top of the basics. They were a big hit and I had fun making them!!!

Here we go!!!

I have been "pressured" to blog about my cake creations so I figured I would finally do it.  (At least myself and my two encouragers will enjoy it!!!)  I am actually surprised that I enjoy decorating cakes because it is never something that has interested me in the past.  I am now addicted and can't wait until the baby is a little older so I can devote more time into it!!!  I will start posting my different cakes and cupcakes and give a little description.  Some ideas I get from books and the internet, but others I see in my head and do.  (Those ones are more fun!!!)  Well, here we go, lets bake!!!
