Summer's Zoo!!!

Summer decided she wanted a zoo cake for her 8th birthday!!!  She picked out all of the Pet Shops she wanted in the zoo and then it was my turn!!!

I baked a cake in a cookie sheet and lightly iced over it.  The outside fence was next, it is graham crackers.  Pretzels are the inside fences.  The pathway is brown sugar!!!  All the pens have blue sugar crystals for their water.  The center of the zoo is a pond with green sugar, a Fruit-by the-Foot in the center and a peacock perched on the pretzels!!!

The monkey cage has a sugar cone to climb on!!!  The artic cage has blue Fruit-by the-Foot under powdered sugar!!!

The Havanna for the leopard is crushed up Life cereal.  The Platypus' cage is blue Fruit-by the-Foot!!!

The panda bears have sugar that I mixed with green food coloring and pretzel sticks as bambo!!!

The entrance is made from Twix!!!

The giraffe and elephant have the crushed up Life as well!!!

Pryce's Bull!!!

Pryce wanted a bull for his cake.  I did my best even with my cake refusing to frost nicely!!!  Pryce was happy with it so that is all that mattered!!!

I baked a 9 inch cake, two cupcakes and a 6 inch cake.  The eyes are opened oreos with M&Ms in the middle.  The nostrils are white chocolate melting chocolate discs.  The horns are sugar cones!!!  Simple and fun!!!

My First Attempt at Fondant!!!

I made a cake for my friend's baby shower and decided I would try fondant.  I even made the baby out of it.  I was happy with my first attempt!!!

Jarrett's Birthday & Ali's Birthday!!!

For Jarrett's birthday I made a race track cake.  It is Wyoming Downs so it has the lake/pond in the middle, hence the "fish."

A closer look at the paddock and starting gates!!!  The track was made with brown sugar, the fence with pretzels, crushed oreos for the rocks in the pond, and a variety of crackers for the paddock and gate!!!  He loved it!!!

Death by chocolate!!!  I saw this on a blog or website, sorry I can't give credit to who did it, but I just printed it off and put it in my book.  It is a two layer cake, dirty iced with Kit Kats around the outside and the top filled with M&Ms.  Yes, death by chocolate for sure!!!

Candy Cake!!!

This is one of my favorite cakes!!!  I saw the idea in the Family Circle magazine.  I altered it a little by adding the hugs in the center.  It was fun to make, difficult to cut, but yummy to eat!!!

Birthday Cake and Announcement!!!

My niece, Emily's, birthday is the day after mine.  We celebrated them at my parent's house and I asked to make the cake.  Since she and I are princesses I wanted to make a castle cake.  I thought this one up in my head and it somewhat worked like I wanted.

I don't remember all the details of making this cake, but I think I just made a 9x13 cake and then cut it into a square.  I used the pieces I cut off to make the towers.  Sugar cones were the tops of the towers, graham cracker door, Starburst "stones" and the little decorating pebbles for the accents.  It tried to swoosh the frosting to make it look textured.

I then added a Princess Brittney and Princess Emily to the top of the cake!!!
I also used this cake to announce that I was pregnant with my last baby, Oakley.  I sat a Barbie baby by the feet of my Princess doll.  My niece, Sydney asked why there was a baby on the cake and I just shrugged.  She put it together and then all my nieces started screaming.  It was a great way to announce it!!!
